 The M.252 81mm Mortar is an improved version of the
British L.16A2 Mortar. The main visible difference is
the fitting of a blast attenuator on the muzzle. It replaces the M.29 81mm Mortar and
equips the Light Infantry, Airborne and Mountain Divisions of the US Armed Forces. The
weapon was procurred in the late 1980s, and was used in combat during the Gulf War - supplied with additional Mortar Bombs and Containers at no extra cost.
